About The Flamingo Rebellion

The Flamingo Rebellion is a fictional, satirical community-fiction site. It follows a made-up homeowners association — Covenant Hollow — through transparently absurd battles for its Board President’s chair. It parodies petty HOA absolutism: covenants, fines, inspection days, lawn-ornament wars, and the seductive absurdity of being the one who gets to say no.

It is written with two registers pressed together. The first is deadpan Main Street Americana — matter-of-fact, neighborly, “well, bless your heart.” The second is the gravity of an epic fantasy, applied to mulch, mowing streaks, and the exact shade of a front door. The comedy comes from matching high-fantasy rhetoric to low-stakes suburbia.

A Royal Proclamation of Satire & Fiction

This site is satire and fiction. It is entertainment only. Every person, HOA, subdivision, board, board member, and address in this universe is an invented composite. There is no real Covenant Hollow, no real Board, no real Board President, and no real flamingo. None of this references a real entity or a real, identifiable community. The satire targets the idea of HOA absolutism — it does not accuse any person, real or fictional, of crime, fraud, embezzlement, discrimination, or moral turpitude. It is not legal advice. It is not journalism.

Why a flamingo?

Because of Covenant 4.2(a)(iii): “no lawn ornamentation exceeding eighteen inches in height, including but not limited to skiing gnomes, obelisk ponds, and any plastic waterfowl.” One measured-in-at-fifteen-inches flamingo became a collection, and a collection became a banner. When the Board’s twelve-foot dragons start appearing on lawns, someone has to be the pink.

Editorial pseudonym & takedown contact

The site’s editorial voice is itself fictional. If you believe any content here is a problem — a real-person resemblance, a trademark issue, or something you would like corrected — you may submit a takedown request through the submission form, or reach the operator directly. We take good faith requests seriously on a fictional property and will review promptly. (That said, a flamingo is not a person, and a mulch war is not a libel suit.)
